Total waste of time & money
I purchased the security lights and doorbell. The cameras don't always capture movement. There are times when it catches the movements but I am unable to retrieve the video footage (even after paying the $100/yr). Doorbell states night vision in the description but that isn't true...unable to see at night. When I contacted customer service about this issue I was told to purchase a light so that the ring doorbell will work at night. Do not waste your money on these products.
I PAID TO HAVE MY RING FLOODLIGHT…
I PAID TO HAVE MY RING FLOODLIGHT CAMERA INSTALLED. NOW IT DOESNT WORK. RING SAYS I WILL HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO COME BACK AND RESET THE CHIME BUTTON. THEY WANTED ME TO DO IT. I SAID I AM A SR. CIZITEN AND CANT CLIMB A LADDER. SO THEY SAID I WILL HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE. AN AWFUL COMPANY. THEY WERE VERY CONDESCENDING.
rip off
rip off, $200 for cameras, $100-120 a year for LIFE. lol no thanks
Junk
Difficult to set up. Long hold times for "customer support" then the reps turn out to be no help what so ever after spending hours on the phone. Dozens of false alarms throughout the day and night. So many false motion alerts that we have silenced RING on our phones because it is so disruptive during the day and night. Discovered that we were overcharged when we added additional cameras. The charge should have been prorated when we added the additional cameras but instead we were charged the entire amount again. This is probably happening to all RING customers. Actually did have a problem on our property and at first felt relieved that we had RING but when we went to view the video for the time of the problem, we found there was about 20 minutes where 6 motion alerts were registered but we are unable to open and view ANY video for that 20 minute time frame. Called RING customer support and spent over an hour on the phone and all the rep could say was, "I don't know." But at least we have thousands of false alarms saved. That's helpful. My spouse listed me as an authorized user and sometimes I can call with technical issues and the rep will help me but other times they say they can't help me because I'm not the account owner. A married couple should both be allowed to have access to customer support. Had to send videos to law enforcement videos but law enforcement notified me there is no date & time stamp on the videos. What!? This system is a cheap piece of junk. We are researching now for a real security camera system with real customer support and with date/time stamps on videos and not thousands of false alarms. Don't waste your time or money on RING
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Called to simply move my plan from an old device to a new one. On hold for 15+ minutes, and finally get someone on the line. She gives me 3 sentences then drops the call. I call back and am on hold for 20 minutes, someone answers and drops the call. Problem still not resolved, and I don't have time to waste dealing with them. Nothing on the website tells you how to switch service over. My solution now? Cancel the subscription. It's not that important to have it, and if this is the type of service you receive on something simple and trying to spend my money on them, I can only image how bad it is if I really have an issue.
Doesn't matter which color you choose.
After 2 years outside, the paint falls off, so it doesn't really matter which color you choose.
And this is Denmark we have no extrame weather conditions.
The support just said... "sad for you".
I dont get why customer gotta expect paint to fall of a product that only about 2 years old?
Battery life is HORRIBLE!;
I have 4 ring devices.Overall I like the products. I do have an issue with the mini spotlight cam battery..I had the cam on the back of my house and the battery would not even last a month after being fully charged. I contacted ring and the guy said I was getting all these alerts, or it be possibly the cold weather was draining my battery, I had the alerts set to lite, and put it so the alerts/light would only come on in the middle of the night. The only time the lights and motion alert would come on is when I let my dog outside . I decided to take that cam and put it in my living room so I could keep an eye on my dogs during the day. I only work part time, so I am home most days, so I only check on them a few times a week.a quick peek and that's it..i don't even receive motion alerts on my phone from this device.I fully charged this battery last week and today it is down to 36 percent.. the battery on my doorbell lasts way longer and I get motion alerts from that all day long, everyday!! I think I have a defective battery in the spotlight cam ,but apparently the ring customer service guy thinks it's totally acceptable for the battery to last 1-2 weeks.. I'm not spending another 30 bucks to put another battery in there when they are supposed to last 6-12 months.ive already spent over 750.00 on ring products plus the cost of the year of backup plan..you would think the least they could do is send me a different battery when the guy could plainly see when the battery was fully charged and days later when the charge was greatly decreased..
I have had a ring door bell for about…
I have had a ring door bell for about two years. It worked well enough. Had to turn off motion sensor because I live on a busy street and I couldn't shrink the motion envelope small enough. The battery life was about a month or so. Because I travel a lot I could not always be there to recharge it. So I added a solar panel. It helped some. Finally the battery got too low so I tried to remove the unit to recharge it.The problem is the security screws rusted. I had to drill them out. Hooked up the device to recharge and it will not take a charge. Needless to say I no longer have security screws. The unit is too expensive to have these issues. Most likely I will be looking for a different product.
The motion detector triggers on everything.
The motion detector triggers on everything. I have it on the minimum settings. Then there is the annual subscription fee that kicks in to be able to record activities. The company is greedy and just want to monetize the heck out of it. Stay away!
To be honest I feel really misled
To be honest I feel really misled. Let’s start with the positive points:
- good images, plug and play, good helpdesk
And now why I feel misled, first of all I bought the spotlight cam with solar panel but the solar panel doesn’t even charge the battery, the pulse is insignificant so not an added value, this has been confirmed by the HELPDESK itself. You will need to charge the batteries every 3-6 weeks depending on having 1 or two batteries. Cam doesn’t record all actions, and costs too much for what you’re getting.
Worst service I have ever had after…
Worst service I have ever had after being on the phone with them over an hour to then end the conversation. This is by far the worst experience I have had with RING SERVICE. 1 hour of being on the phone my issue was not fixed now I have to call again and wait another 15-20 min to get a hold of someone if I could give this a negative 5 star I would.
This company should rethink their…
This company should rethink their entire customer service. They had me on hold for three hours. the device is defective and was installed by their company incorrectly. they would not ship out a new unit, refund my money or send someone out to fix the installation. they were condescending and generally unpleasant.
i was fooled by the doorbell and…
i was fooled by the doorbell and exterior camera - now realizing they have structured the proess so that you have to add a solar panel to the camera OR climba ladder to get the battery and charge it. But that is not the worst part. For me the worst part is having to pay to upload your videos to THEIR to be able to move them to MY cloud.
just purchsed it today and am selling it at a loss to get A REAL security system.
Chose Wisely look around for alternative
Camera always buffering, and cannot always get a live. Found out today that after having for a few months have to do a subscription in order to use all facilities. If this had been made clear would of never purchased and would of looked for alternatives.
The ring constantly buffering
The ring constantly buffering. I have the booster, I changed internet servers to fios with 245 download speed and 145 upload speed .So internet is not the issue but ring is. If don’t pay for the recording you will see nothing. This is a major flaw that no one seems to be working on.
Dead Ring-ers Ring security fail
We purchased a ring doorbell pro and floodlight camera from Costco in October 2018. I installed both which was very easy. Almost from this point on we have nothing but problems. At the start our floodlight cam only caught motion some of the time. We called ring customer support and went thru multiple manually resetting system and reconnects. After a couple of days the problem still persisted and we were told it was our WiFi. So, I call our provider and we paid to boost our home signal “which isn’t cheap”. The very next day our daughter came home from work at about 11pm and walked up the driveway with no alerts, then onto our front porch and opened the front door with no alerts. This was both the boorbell and flood cam failing. I quick opened the app to see the WiFi strength was reporting as very good!
This same thing has gone on over and over. When I call tech support after treating my I’m the problem, takes me through manually resetting the cameras and “making changes on thier end” only to experience the same issue. It seems that the cameras simply don’t work half the time at night... we never seem to have an issue other than the ring delay during the day. However, when I most need the security, at night, the ring fails to perform. I’ve personally talked to other who have experienced the same issue and rather than tell about have chosen just to switch to another provider. But at a retail price we’ll over $500 plus monthly monitoring fees I expect way more.
I’ll be returning this junk after the holidays, I’ve heard great things about nest
Crappy products
Crappy products if you take the price into account. The doorbell v2 battery is down at 46% after LESS than a month ordinary use. Actually less than ordinary use.. because friends have to knock on our door becaus of the insane delay. Often halv a minute.
Customer support tells me I have an “old phone” iphone 6s.. so basically, in other words, you need to buy a brand new, super expensive product in order to use Ring...
And I have a proffesional linksys router and a fiber 100/100 mbit internet connection only 2-3 metres away from my doorbell.
Oh.. and then I bought the chime because of the delay.. but hey, I can’t change ring tones. And guess what.. there is still a delay!
Where to begin ..
Where to begin ... Bought the Ring video doorbell suggested by ADT. After installing, wouldn't ring the doorbell. Spent couple of hours on phone with tech, sent pictures, went over every problem. Tech finally decided that the plastic back was probably got in a bind and something happened so wasn't connecting well (the plastic back side of these devices is really just a think piece of plastic-cheap, should have been my first clue). Anyway, she sent be a new plastic back side (the one with the copper plates). This time I put it on a hard backing on there couldn't be the excuse that the plastic was bent. After this stopped working, called them again and this time it was decided that since it worked for a couple of days then stopped working - and by working I means "Making the door bell ring" there may be a power problem. BTW, you evidently can't use it as a doorbell unless it is hardwired, and when it goes on battery the doorbell stops working! The video will work as long as their is power either by battery or hardware, but the doorbell doesn't work unless it is hardwired. Anyway, on I go. I had my door bell checked and they said the power output was a little low and that might be the problem, so I spent the money to have new transformer put in (16 amps!) for my doorbell and by golly I thought maybe that was it!! It starting working. Vain hope. Worked for about a week and now it has stopped working again, back on battery power. There doesn't seem to be an end to all the different problems that could cause this device to not work, including temperature and humidity which I will probably hear next are the problem. I expect that I will receive no further assistance from Ring to remedy this problem, so I will be looking at some other video doorbells.
I purchased over two thousand dollars…
I purchased over two thousand dollars wort of equipment and camaras biggest piece of crap I ever bought and if I could return it I would 1) batteries drain down within a week and a half even with the solar panels and two batteries in each Camara 2) camara live stream and recorded constantly freeze picks up every branch blowing but don't pick up people approaching house half the time and when it does it freezes 3) night time camaras look like there's constant fog on the camara cant see anything even with the entire outside perimeter completely lit up 4) sound sucks cant hear or understand what anyone is saying 5) constantly off line even after upgrading wifi and internet system and everytime I try to talk to someone with the doorbell they either cant hear me or it's completely garbled like I said I wish I could return all the crap I bought its complete waste of money seen much better for a quarter of the price DONT buy this piece of crap
Worst customer support process
Worst customer support process I have ever experienced with a company. Took 2 weeks to finally get my faulty alarm sensor addressed... well at least they are finally sending a replacement out. Their email address for support is never checked. Their chat support just keeps you waiting (waited 2 hrs). Finally got through to someone on the phone and they are in a loud room where they can't hear what I am saying and all I keep hearing are other representatives talking to other angry customers. What a joke.
Had to upgrade to a higher speed WiFi…
Had to upgrade to a higher speed WiFi because the camera's really drags your speed to a crawl. Then if you do upgrade, you have to go through and change every window, door and motion sensor over to the new network one at a time. I will never buy another thing from ring. Waste of money. Anyone looking for a security system?
A Waste
While there are no monthly contracts w Ring, customer service has over ten minute wait time, if not much more EVERY TIME.
This is not real time video...You get sn alert a few minutes after the camera captures the event.
There is a continuous flow of error messages with this system.
The camera system disconnects and forces you to relog in.
I have a smart phone with 5 G and after my security camera disconnected from my internet, the app sends a message that it is now suddenly no longer compatible.
I have the Warranty, I have paid for, plus paid Plenty for an electrician to hardwire my camera..
whata MAJOR AND ONGOING AGGRAVATION.
DI NOT GET RING! NO WAY! You WILL REGRET THE PURCHASE
They do not have customer support…
They do not have customer support unless you want to buy something more.If you have a problem there is no customer support.
RING -- PRODUCTS DON'T LAST -- Bad Customer Support - Better Options
I would NOT recommend this product to anyone as the product life is SHORT and they don't stand behind their product. I was just offered the opportunity to buy another one from their customer service department. They did try to help me resolve the problem, but ended with them saying it is broken --- I knew that and that is precisely why I called. After about 8 months we had initial problems from time to time with it not being connected or not ringing inside the home. Finally, they offered a small part for our inside doorbell ringer. We installed and it worked for another month or two before the same problem arose. Now, they have wasted time and it is out of warranty even though I've been in contact with them for over 5 months...they are offering no help at all to fix or replace. Don't waste your money on this product. I have a doorbell that I spent good money on that I cannot hear inside the house and the connectivity works less than half the time!
